RICHMOND CIRCULAR

Middle Walk - 7.7 miles

From the Car Park head back along the main road and to the Market Square. At the bottom of the square go left then bear right. There is a large Church on your left. Just past the Church take a left turn 175010 then turn right at the end of the lane near the houses. This leads to the riverside path along the north side of the River Swale. Follow this path to Easby Abbey 184002. Head NW into Easby passing Easby House on your right. On reaching the road turn left and then right onto a path at 187004, heading NW to 194017 then turning right to pass around Union House 201016. Then take the path heading north into Skeeby 198025. Turn right along the road to pick up a path on the left at 201026 heading NW. At an intersection of paths 195032 go left SW then West to Oliver then Oliver Cottages. Cross the road and follow a track through the wood to pick up a path at 176028 which leads south through the woods and on to Richmond Golf Course. Cross a stile in the perimeter fence of the Golf Club 175024 and bear slightly right across the golf course (with care!!!!) heading slightly SW to reach a path at 174020 going through houses to reach the road at 174019. Cross the road and go through more houses to reach a lane at 173016. Turn right and continue to reach a path on the left at 167016. Follow the path along the edge of the houses heading south and back to the Car Park.

Long Walk - 10.2 miles

From the Car Park head back along the main road and to the Market Square. At the bottom of the square go left then bear right. There is a large Church on your left. Just past the Church take a left turn 175010 then turn right at the end of the lane near the houses. This leads to the riverside path along the north side of the River Swale. Follow this path to Easby Abbey 184002. Head NW into Easby passing Easby House on your right. On reaching the road turn left and then right onto a path at 187004, heading NW to 194017 then turning right to pass around Union House 201016. Then take the path heading north into Skeeby 198025. Turn right along the road to pick up a path on the left at 201026 heading NW. At an intersection turn right past Gascoigne Farm then NW into the centre of Gilling West 183052. Turn left along the road to a path by the Church 182051. Follow the path SW along Old Hall Lane to 174045 then go SE to 181039 then head SW past Aske Hall to reach the woods at 176029. Go through the woods and follow the path to Richmond Golf Course. Cross a stile in the perimeter fence and bear slightly right across the golf course (with care !!!) heading towards a building on the skyline. Bear left through the car park with the Clubhouse on the left then follow the access road to meet the road at 169021. Cross over the road and pick up a path heading SE to reach a wall at 170020. Go through a gap in the wall and turn right heading west to 167020 to reach a path heading south through the Gallowfield Trading Estate. At 166016 turn left then take a right onto a path heading south along the edge of the houses and back to the Car Park.
